Mat and I are so thrilled and honored that Brooklyn Bride has featured a few of our favorite engagement photos that Semi Song took. Definitely a must visit blog for all brides to be, Brooklyn Bride has been a huge source of help for me during the wedding planning process. Another Round of Engagement Photos

The mega talented Semi Song has sent us a few more photos from our engagement session at Central Park.

Saturday Night Dance Party

Because everyone will likely be staying in NYC for the weekend, we've set up a huge blowout dance party at the infamous Tribeca Grand Hotel on Saturday night from 10-4am. The hotel is amazing and Mat and I have partied there many many times.

The event team there is amazing, especially Tommy Saleh, and they are letting us curate the night. Mat and I have asked some of our favorite NYC DJs to spin music. DJs In PJs may even make a surprise appearance, but no confirmations have been made.
We're really excited for a second night of partying and the DJs we've brought in to do the job will not disappoint. We have DJ Cat Hartwell from the band Holy Hail (she's also our wedding DJ), Justin Miller from DFA Records, and the legendary Stretch Armstrong. These three are NYC party staples in the DJ scene and we are lucky to have them included at the party :)

Less Than a Month To Go

In just a few short weeks, our wedding day will finally be here, which means we will be seeing you all very soon. Mat and I are beyond excited. And only slightly nervous ;)

I've started experiencing a bit of wedding related stress nightmares. The other night I dreamed that I missed my own wedding! It was awful. I thought it was Thursday and I was looking for my rehearsal dinner dress, when my cousin Hoda informed me it was Friday and I should be getting into my gown.

Trouble was, it was 6pm and I couldn't find my gown and was in a fake wedding dress. I remember sulking, saying "but I've already missed hair and make up, and I've missed all the photos, and I don't think I'll be ready in time for the ceremony".

How awful right? Just a dream though, and I've taken the necessary steps to make sure that doesn't happen!

Here are some updates on the wedding:

  • This Thursday, Oct 21 is the last day to book the discounted room rates at Roosevelt Hotel.
  • Air Tran Airways still has the 10% discounted rates for guests flying in for our wedding. Information is in the Travel section.
  • During the ceremony, we ask that children under 10 not be in the ballroom. We have two great and experienced babysitters on site who will watch your kids for that hour. If you are interested in hiring a babysitter for the whole night, then please reach out.
  • Ladies staying at the Roosevelt Hotel who are interested in having their hair done for the wedding, can make appointments at the Jean-Claude Biguine Salon located right next to the hotel. The salon is located on 61 East 45th Street and Vanderbilt and can be reached at 212.818.0908 or 212.867.8534. The manager there has a heads up about our large wedding party, and has offered the following pricing: $60 for up-does, $39 for short hair, and $49 for long hair.
  • The bus will pick up guests staying at the Roosevelt hotel in the lobby at 5pm on Friday, November 12 from the Madison Avenue at 45th Street entrance. Please be in the lobby ready to board the bus by 5pm, as the bus will depart at 5:30 sharp to deliver guests to Capitale. If you do miss it, don't fret, there are cabs everywhere. The bus will pick up from Capitale at midnight to pick up guests and return them at Roosevelt Hotel at the end of the evening.

Wedding Attire & Masked Ball?

Our wedding invites were a little cryptic, I agree, but who doesn't love a bit of mystery? I meant to include information about the attire for the wedding on the invitation insert cards, but forgot. The "dress code" for the night is formal. But we are in NYC, the fashion capital of the world, so please do have fun with it!

We're looking for suits and ties for the men, gowns and cocktail dresses for the ladies. Heels are appreciated, but flats are smart to bring along for later in the night. Men, dress shoes are preferred, but black vans will do. No sneakers.

As for colors, we don't have any themes going, so no worries there, but it is Fall, so jewel tones are appropriate and are flattering on everyone. Neon however, is harder to pull off, so maybe save the bright colors for our big Saturday night blowout bash.

And I know it's not even necessary to mention, no one in white, cream, or ivory dresses other than moi. Thank you!

The masked ball theme and references on the invites are linked to our inspiration from the movie the Labyrinth. Beautiful Venetian masks will be provided for everyone during the reception, so you do not need to bring masks with you.

We're hoping you enjoy the masks and have fun wearing them during the reception. They should make the photos really interesting!
